Tired of buying those expensive dog treats at the store? Then why not make your own! These 3 ingredient dog treats are super easy to make and you can have a batch made up in no time!

Not only will you be saving some money, they are also a healthier treat option for your dog than store brand treats. They aren’t full of ingredients that your dog doesn’t need.
Daisy (the black lab) absolutely loved these treats, although there isn’t much that she doesn’t like to eat, hahaha. She kept coming back and staring me down wanting another one, I lost count on how many she ate.

Even our little dog, Penny, really seemed to enjoy these treats. She is usually a picky eater and won’t eat everything, but she ate a couple of them herself and acted like she even wanted more.
Easy 3 Ingredient Dog Treats
These homemade dog treats consist of 3 simple ingredients. They are
- Oat Flour – If you don’t have oat flour on hand, you can easily make your own! Just add some quick oats into a blender and blend them until they turn into a fine powder.
- Peanut Butter – The more natural of a peanut butter, the better. Just make sure that your peanut butter does NOT contain xylitol or other artificial sweeteners as they can be toxic to dogs.
- Eggs – I used whole eggs for this recipe
- Water – I didn’t even count this as an ingredient since everyone has water. You could also swap this out for chicken broth if you wanted the treats to have more flavor.

How to Store Homemade Dog Treats
If you make a large batch of treats up for your furry friend, you will want to know how to store them so that they will stay fresh for as long as possible. Here are some tips on how to store homemade dog treats:
- Allow the homemade dog treats to cool completely before storing them. Placing warm treats in storage containers can create condensation, leading to moisture buildup and can cause them to spoil faster by molding
- Use airtight containers such as glass jars, plastic containers with tight-fitting lids, or resealable bags designed for food storage. Airtight containers help prevent exposure to air, moisture, and pests, preserving the treats’ freshness for a longer duration.
- Homemade dog treats can generally be stored at room temperature in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight for up to 2 weeks. Ensure that the storage area is not subjected to extreme temperatures, as this can affect the texture and flavor of the treats.
- Homemade dog treats can also be frozen for long-term storage (3 – 6 months.) Place the treats in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze until solid. Once frozen, transfer the treats to airtight containers or resealable freezer bags to prevent freezer burn and maintain freshness. Frozen treats can be thawed in the refrigerator or at room temperature before serving to your dog.
Dog Bone Cookie Cutter

I found these Dog Bone Cookie Cutters on Amazon in a pack of 3. Each cookie cutter is a different size and the sizes are 2.4”, 3.2” and 3.9”.
I used the 2.4” and the 3.2” for my treats as I have a small 15 pound dog and a full grown black lab. These sizes worked perfect for them.
How to Make 3 Ingredient Dog Treats
These 3 ingredient dog treats are so easy to make that it literally takes 10 minutes to throw everything in the bowl, mix it up, roll it out and then cut them out. It takes longer for them to bake in the oven than to actually make them.
You will simply just add all your ingredient to your bowl and mix well. Once everything is combined, your mixture will be very thick and should look like this

You will then sprinkle some oat flour on the counter and pour the dough out onto it. Sprinkle some more oat flour on top and knead the dough with your hands for a bit. I found that this makes it easier to roll out and it holds its shape better this way.
Then roll the dough out until it is about 1/4” thick

Take your bone shaped cookie cutter and cut out all your treats

Place the treats on a greased cooking sheet

Bake at 350° for 15 minutes
Once you have removed the treats from the oven, you can either put them on a cooling rack to cool or just let them cool on the cooking sheet.

After the treats are completely cooled you can feed them to your canine friend and put them into an airtight container to store them.
3 Ingredient Dog Treats Q & A

Why are my homemade dog treats molding? This is why it is really important to make sure that your homemade dog treats are completely cooled before putting them into an airtight container.
